A Bit About Jerica

Washington, D.C., 2011

Hello, Jerica Pitts here!

I was born and raised in snowy Southeastern Michigan. I made my way out to the Pacific Northwest for my undergraduate career. Continuing my trend of moving from one part of the country to the next, I recently finished a summer internship in Annapolis, Md. Upon graduation, I hope to head south to Dallas, Texas, or Atlanta, Ga.

I am in the midst of my senior fall term at the University of Oregon, finishing my degree in public relations and communication studies. I am nervous to graduate college, but I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me.

My public relations interests include fundraising, event planning, government agencies, social media and nonprofit organizations.

Here a few quick things you may want to know about me.

1. Even though I am a Duck in Eugene, I will always root for Duke and the University of Alabama. (Go Blue Devils and roll tide!)

2. My memory is one of my best qualities. I remember names, faces and small details more than anything else.

3. I blog and job shadow at Moxie Events, a wedding planning company, in Eugene. Are you recently engaged or know someone in Oregon who is? Check out Moxie’s website.

4. Fraternity and sorority life at the University of Oregon changed my college experience. I am a collegiate member of Tri-Delta’s Theta Delta chapter. I served as a past vice president of administration and on the membership team. Check out Theta Delta’s twitter: @UofOTriDelta

5. I am passionate about fundraising for cancer research. In my spare time I serve as the publicity and marketing chair for Relay for Life and Up ’til Dawn. I am also fortunate enough to be a part of an organization that fundraises for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
